From playing to coaching — the journey that shaped TR46 Cricket Academy
Tanura Rusil Kompangnage Fonseka has spent his life around the game of cricket. A natural wicketkeeper with quick hands and sharp instincts, he learned the game the hard way — out in the middle, reading batsmen, reacting to edges, and absorbing every lesson the sport had to offer.
As a senior wicketkeeper at Foxton Granta CC — and previously at Sutton CC, Cheam CC, and Woldingham CC — Tanura developed a deep understanding of what separates good players from great ones. But it wasn't just technical skill he noticed; it was the impact that quality coaching had on young players.
That insight ignited a new passion: coaching. Tanura pursued formal qualifications, gained hands-on experience across multiple clubs, and eventually founded TR46 Cricket Academy. His goal was simple — to create the kind of coaching environment he wished he'd had coming through: one that builds confidence as much as technique, where every player feels seen and supported.
